United we stand, divided we fall. It’s a quote I only heard a few times when I was younger. Mostly in reference to something that happened two hundred years before I was born. Hearing history being told is different than watching it unfold. Listening to the stories from a teacher and imagining the events in your mind don’t come close to the experience of being there, alive, in that moment.
Having seen Entity in action, in person, well, it was everything I expected but experiencing it for myself, being alive in that moment, woke something up inside me. To experience these people regurgitate these words “United we stand, divided we fall” are always the ones with the most divisive hearts and minds. The mental dissonance that Entity has exposed in this society is truly breathtaking. I understand it but understanding it doesn’t make it any easier to accept that en masse, people are incapable of seeing the forest for the trees and the fire that is consuming it. This war, this war, we’ve been sent back to fight. It’s not a war of bullets and missiles, but a war of word and action. And the growing sentiment is that of indifference and fear. When these polarizing elements mix with well-placed propaganda, they grow like incurable cancer in the masses’ hearts and minds. I am constantly reminding myself and my team not to get caught up in finger-pointing. Our pulpit is truth, and our mission is to guide, not to command.
United we stand, divided we fall. If you say it enough, you can begin to believe it. So much so, you begin to commit an unbalanced amount of energy into the mantra. You work every day to make it happen. Stand or fall. Together or divided. And then, after a while, when said enough, it all begins to fade into an apathetic fog of ‘I told you so’ as we all wave goodbye to each other in the dying light.
Yeah…I really want to be done with this assignment so I can return home. I miss my time!
